I'll be good to see the truck loaded so I can see what my living and dining rooms look like again.

Anybody has some free time on Saturday, May 24, in the afternoon, we could use some help unloading the heavy furniture.
We are working in parallel. We are packing the uhaul on Thursday too. But we can't leave until Saturday morning.
We check out of government housing (good-bye NSA MidSouth) on Friday morning, our daughter has her last day of school on Friday and DH checks out on leave on Friday at 1600.
So.......we will be hittin' the road at 6am on Saturday morning and will arrive home on Tuesday. Looking forward to whole-belly fried clams and whoopie pies.

Corgis, you guys have a safe trip. As well as everyone else traveling to Maine.

Today we went to the DMV and got our Maine Drivers Liscences. I was impressed with the helpfulness of the representative who assisted me. She was helpful and courteous and very friendly!!!!! People sometimes like to complain about "bureaucrats" and civil service employees; this lady was wonderful--assisted us thru the process even though we thought we didnt have proof of residency--she asked if we didnt have the registration or insurance in the car....and waited while we ran out to find it......her attitude was a credit to the state. The whole office was well run!

I also found an old fashion "barbar shop" not a salon or "family cutting corner".....this little barbar shop was great!

Have I mentioned lately that I love living in Maine!

haven't been on here for awhile, it's going to take me some time to read up on everyone. we are driving (yes driving ) up to Maine in a few days to spend couple weeks and scout out some more properties. So far we've spent time DownEast, early last month my dh flew up alone to Bangor and surrounding areas for about a week, then spent time in Bethel before coming home. Met lots of great people. Now we are going up together (doggies too) and will be looking around the Midcoast area. Wish us luck!

Default Hello again

Hi all. It is a joy to read the posts here. We are not moving to Maine, at least not anytime soon. I had the opportunity to interview in Maine (pretty facinating positions), but fell in love with our current home, town, and friends again. Pretty bitter sweet feeling! Our town is rural, quiet, and somewhat Maine friendly

We also saw the economy slump coming and coming hard. We may have trouble like so many have posed on this site in regards to heating oil later this year. We own a cute bungalow here and a magnificent yard with a beautiful forest and lots of privacy. I also have planted over 100 trees to reduce the lawn area in our yard... and 9 years later those little buggers are growing!!! So why relocate? What were we thinking??? Don't know what you got till its gone (or just almost gone).

Admittedly we LOVED Maine. But we love home too...

Traveling this year and future years will be tough for us (supporting DH though full-time college now). So who knows when we will get to Maine again?

For anyone considering moving south (for a shorter winter) consider this area... beautiful Western Maryland.

I still wish I could meet many of you posting!!! A fantastic bunch!

Take care and enjoy your lovely summers

I worked today in our new greenhouse, it was sweltering in there! Planting and transplanting stuff.

I was out in our orchard watering the trees, and one of them has blossoms!

I only planting those apple trees this spring!

I think that I need to pluck the blossoms though, I do not want that tree to be pushing energy to fruit when it needs to be working on it's root system.

So that is where we are
