Well, finally...I'll be headed out to spend some time with my girlfriend. My employer gave me the thumbs-up to telecommute from Maine while we check out the area. I'll be there from the 25th-6th, and will be back in September for another couple weeks, hopefully.
Shipped one of my mtn bikes out, along with some other gear, so I'll be able to 'do my things' in Maine and see how it stacks up vs. Colorado. I know there's no comparison....Maine isn't Colorado, and Colorado isn't Maine.
The way air fares are going, it may be worth throwing some adventure into the mix and riding the motorcycle out next time around! Maybe I could qualify for Iron Butt status!

So happy for you! Good luck to you!
You may just be lucky with airfares, as I was last week when I flew last minute to Providence, RI from Phoenix for $148 round trip, incl taxes
Check the search engine kayak.com for the best airfares!

ahh, good plan....I've heard of Kayak but never checked it out. Will do that next time around.
Boy I hate flying, though....I really like the idea of making a motorcycle adventure out of it next time around!

I always use Kayak for my flights home. Great fares! Try Yapta too.
My trip next week that I booked on Kayak was $215. Yes, it's one of those very early flights leaving here at 6am, but that's okay. More time to spend at home!

Updates
I still quietly stalk the forum regularly and I get Downeast magazine and read it cover to cover each month. My hubby reaciently bought an extremely large snowbolwer for our very tiny driveway. so i smiled and said "I take this at a sign you want to move somewhere with more snow." and he wasn't as crabby when he replied. This past week he said he actually thought about moving last year. he was really unhappy at work, but now the housing market is bad here and ours needs a bit of work. So my goal is still to make it to Maine before my baby starts school. he is 2 so we have a bit of time to visit. I wish sooner. I asked my DH if we found a trailer with some land in the Bangor area in good shape and decent priced he could be a house husband.

It's nice that you're still popping in. I think it's wise that you two are taking your time to find your place in Maine. Good luck on your search!

Well, big O, you're not in the boat alone!! Hubby and I are dying to get up there. Very seriously now thinking of starting a B&B. But we've got our last 2 kids in high school and won't pull them out and move them so far unless they ask to. I'm hoping with things up in the air with my job now that I'll be able to be off for a month between jobs so we can take the girls up there in November. Hoping they'll fall in love and decide to move!!

The house here in WI will be on the market in 4 1/2 months. Time will tell how long it sits before selling but we are doing everything in our power to make it appealing. The interior will be pretty much 100% new and definitely move-in ready. We'll do what we can to the exterior, weather permitting.
Our hope is to get at least 1/2 the summer back in Maine and definitely be there in time to enjoy the beautiful Fall weather.
