Are you kidding me?!!?!? You guys are one of the best parts of this whole move! I keep having those little doubts that tend to creep in whenever you're about to make a change as big as this one. I'm leaving behind the place I thought was going to be our home until we retired, and a community of great friends and neighbors. (I keep waiting for the real tears to set in.) But thanks to this bunch, I think I've already got friends waiting for me in Maine, with potential for a lot more. I've gotten so much good advice that we know what to ask about when we come up to find a house, how to make sure our vehicles are ready to tackle winter, all I need now if for you guys to give me this same kind of love when I get there so I won't miss my friends here so much. And live up to those promises of getting together when we visit! I want to meet you people! There are lots of things we're still going to need to know. But a lot of it are things that will have to wait until we get there, like finding a church and which stores have the best prices on what. You guys will still be there for me to answer my questions. I hope.

Sounds like fun! We're expecting a March 1 start date for hubby, so we'll have to leave here in mid Feb. to be there in time to have a few days to rest up before he begins work. We are supposed to come up on a househunting trip before that. We can schedule it as soon as they give us the date. We hope to make the visit the last week of January. And I hope we find a house while we're there. We have dogs and a cat that live inside and a place with a working fireplace or wood burning stove would be great for times when the power goes out. We'll eventually buy a house after we sell ours. For now, we need to rent, two or more bedrooms and enough room to have friends over.

We will definitely be here. My dearest friends were met here on CD. I'm sick, again. And I've been sick for a while now. I was in the ER last week thanks to Mollysmiles (nagging ) talking to me to make me understand how sick I was. I unexpectedly had a doctor's apt today because I'm no longer improving. My husband is in Bangor until very late tonight and I can't drive right now. Starwalker, a member of this forum, was here to visit today. Star stayed later than planned to take me to the doctor. Right now she's making a 2 1/2 hour drive home in the dark. And Mollysmiles offered to pick up my prescriptions for me since I'm not driving and my DH isn't here. We will be here waiting for you and we will keep you busy enough to not be tooo terribly homesick. It's what we do!

You may have to work around the weather on your trip. You know, you could get snowed in at Boston, or somewhere you may stop for a flight change. Keep that in mind when planning the house hunting trip. Not trying to throw a wet blanket on ya, but we are moving at the worst possible time of year! Some delays are quite possible.

Maine, hope you're feeling better. Stay in, rest, do what the doctor says, nag, nag, nag. Seriously, you need to get well so that we can all get together when El and rajen and the rest get there. As for working around the weather, yeah, El, I figured on that. I asked hubby about getting something a bit bigger and maybe even an SUV for a rental. But I don't want to be moving out of Presidio in the heat, and it comes in early down here. Not that they give us many options when it comes to time frames on these things.

It was no problem, glad to be able to help... and I am sorry that we both forgot the stop at the grocers for the coffee creamer!
And for what it's worth, K went out and started the car when I got home and did not hear the sound that you commented about. I put my hat on, grabbed my stuff and just wanted to get IN (I left home at 7:30 this morning and got back here about 8 tonight, after stopping at the PO in Bangor to put invoices in the mail.)
As I said at lunch, I DO wish I were closer to the Washington County gang... but I do what I can and will be glad to come help be moving crew for anyone coming into the area, if it is on one of my days off.
