I am dreaming of the day that my girlfriend, my mother, any extended family I can convince(and the prospects are looking pretty good amongst my huge family) and myself can come to Maine. We are all creative and hardworking- artists and crafters. We love "the way life should be" It is hard for us at the moment, but we WILL get there! To the best state in America!

You can enjoy the dream of peace with us

And eat that rainbow stew."

Woohoo! We have a new Maine address AND phone number! Making progress!!
I also talked to the local oil company that already services the house. They said "today's price" on oil is 2.39/gal and propane is 1.95/gal. This may be beneficial info for others moving into the area.

It certainly is, El. I'm confused. Are you already up there or just got your house to move to? We're flying up next week to look for a house. If we find one, we might as well see if we can get some fuel delivered. It takes less energy to keep a house warm than it does to warm it up from being cold. By the way, our move date is mid March.

No, we're just getting all the details lined out and services ordered. I think you'll find most houses will be kept lighted and heated until you get there, unless it's been vacant for a while and has been "winterized". Did I say that right? Probably not, but you get the drift. It's easier for landlords to keep the house open between tenants if it's a short stretch than for them to close it up during the winter. Someone told me that, but I can't remember if it was M or just who said it. Our landlord is transferring everything into her own name for a month when the current renters leave until we get there, then we'll transfer it all into our names.
The lady at the oil co was super nice! She said there should still be oil in the tank when we get there,(they know the house and the landlord) and she's sending me the application to pre-establish the new account so they can just come right out when we need them. That's with Tammaro Oil. There is another oil co in town, but I have it on good authority that we'd prefer to use this one. Don't expect to find a website for them, but you can google their phone number to call and get the details on the house you choose!

Also, when you start looking for the electric co and the phone co, message me! I already went on that chase today, and I have it all sorted out now. I have all the phone #s you'll need if you get a house right in Calais.
