Hi, guys! I'd apologize for being away, except that I haven't. I've been right here in CALAIS for the past few days, just haven't been able to get on the 'net. Had a heck of a time getting here. One flight was delayed, another cancelled, we rescheduled, then another flight was delayed, then another cancelled, and they lost our luggage to add insult to injury. But my daddy used to say, "Anything worth having is worth fighting for." We certainly have earned our new life in Maine 'cause we had to fight to get here, just for house hunting.
We had lunch (more like a party) at peachie's on Friday. Can't wait for that to be a regular event.
We think we've found a house. We have to get with the owner tomorrow. It's such a nice place that we just might buy it. When it's a sure thing, I'll post a photo. It is such a neat house!
Sadly, back to Texas on Thursday. Hope the flight home goes better than the one coming up. But, hey, we'll be back at the end of March. Maybe we'll be able to find the ground under the four feet of snow that's piled all over the streets. Looking forward to it!

Thats great Casper!!!! Congrats on finding a house! That sounds like such an ordeal trying to get there, but glad it all went well once you did get there!! Did they ever find your luggage?
I can't wait till we are finally on our way on up for good next year and you all can be the ones welcoming us home!

Glad your trip got better after you arrived! Do you have a set moving date yet? I guess we'll be there a couple of weeks ahead of you, so we'll leave the light on!

We got in on Thursday night. Our luggage got here on Saturday night. Our moving date is March 15. We have nine days to drive up and we're going to take the time to visit family since we won't get to go back for a visit for a year or two. We may never have to. All of our friends want to come see Maine. After what we've seen this week, can't say as I blame them.

Same here. My parents & younger siblings will be heading up to visit the first time on March 14th, barely giving us time to settle in. They'll all be on spring break. Then, my sister and her husband will be up in November to visit us for a few days after a back-packing trip in New Hampshire. They're all excited to see it. We'll have the much more desirable place to visit!

Best wishes on your journey! I, too, am so looking forward to that move to Maine! Must sell my house first! How 'bout you?

Still in Search of Dream Property
Hi, All of You Special Forum-ers!
I recently heard that the property I had been so elated about in Searsport has received 3 offers in one day! I would have purchased it by now (have been looking at it for over a year now!) if my home here on the Cape had sold.
So, now, after a few days of contemplation, I realize that the universe has given me another break. The Searsport place, as perfect as it was in so many ways for my lil farm n' me, was actually too big for one person (moi) to maintain.
I now live in a 1203 sq ft home and would be very happy in something that size or smaller. If any of you out there in forumland know of small farm places, preferably not too far from the coast, would you please lemmekno? I'd love to have something already set up for my animals with fenced in pastures and barn attached to the house with direct access to trails, but that type of place may be a rarity for $250,000 or under (the more UNDER, the better). You know better than I, I'm sure. Oh, I also need to be in a not too remote area. Living singly, I'd like to be not too far from neighbors.
I'm not looking for fixer-uppers either. Been there and have had enuff o' that, if ya know what I mean.
I, thank you for your help, ahead of time. You are such a good bunch and I'd love to meet you all. Onward and upward!

Sorry to hear that, Palval, but you know everything happens for a reason. I agree with you that the universe must be speaking!
We've just realized this morning that Brad only has 4 more days available to get things done before loading day, so we're in a bit of a panic. Don't tell him, but I've been seeing this time coming for while now, so I've BEEN in a panic, knowing how much we have yet to get accomplished!
Today is van tune-up and interior house paint touch-up day. We're down to actually having to schedule the things that need to be done on specific days before we run completely out of time. And, of course, I have a number of lists going around so we don't forget something important! Oh, and ask an auto parts store salesman in SE Texas...."Do you have washer fluid with de-icer in it?" They look at you like you just walked in with your hair standing straight up on top of your head! We'll have to do a few things when we get up there!
Exciting....scary....nerve wracking....worrisome....exciting!!!

LOL, Tammy do you have a master list to keep track of all your lists? I swear I had to do that when we were getting ready to move from ME to WI. Long distance moves are a completely different beast than moving within the same State.
23 days and counting! I can only imagine how excited you all must be
