Cas, this thread never dies! It just gets buried alive!! As people actually have updates, they'll dig it back out periodically. I've dug it all the way off of page 10 before.
It's a nice one to see pop up out of the blue. You get that, "Oh goodie! Someone is making progress!!" thought.

It is nice once it 'goes away' for a little while and then someone who has been doing years of research about moving to our state pops back into the thread with an update!
Afterall, once you're already there, there's no need of updating us all on where you are, we already know!

32 days left before we have the movers here and 97 days before we fly. I have to drop the first vehicle off to be shipped in a couple of weeks. We have boxes everywhere as we saved a bunch of them in the attic for this occasion. Will be nice to be settled in our house in Maine and be able to not have to store them any more. Just stinks having to start this whole moving process this far out but it takes a few weeks to get across the Atlantic on the boat. House is almost done and we just wrapped up our property tax bill with the town a few hours ago. Have a few more things to sell here that only work in Europe and not in the U.S. but all in all it is going ok and we are anxious to get back.

We are still on the other side of the country. On June 1st, we are going to fly our belongings to Anchorage, buy a trailer, and hopefully head down the Al-Can Highway within two weeks. Are we headed to Maine? Not exactly. Well, not exactly sure, anyway. Since visiting Maine in October, we have looked at Northern Minnesota/Wisconsin, and most recently, West Virginia. What we finally decided was that we just need to get out of here. And we are saving enough money to do that and be able to drive around looking and checking out different places of interest. We can't decide where we want to settle down from 5,000 miles away on the Internet- it just isn't going to work. So, in about 60 days, we will head down to begin looking in person, in earnest, for the place we want to call home. Maine? Minnesota? West Virginia? Or none of the above? God might know, but he's not telling..........

He will tell you MeganAK, and you will hear it loud and clear when you see the right place that tells you "this is where you will make your home." I am excited for you, and hope it doesn't take too long to find the place that calls to you.
My husband and I have some good news!!! He got an unexpected bonus and we decided to sock it right into our special savings account that is for the purchase of a property. We now have about 10% of our projected purchase price and feel so much closer to our dream. The bonus was really a big surprise, especially with the economy being what it is lately. We figured it was meant to be put towards the property purchase, so that is where it went!

I was at a potluck supper tonight, and someone asked me about a new OT here in Calais. Is that one of "ours?" I was pretty sure we had one that was moving here, either a participant on the forum or a spouse.

If all goes well at closing on Wednesday,we should be arriving in Maine on Thursday! It's so surreal to think that less than 2 months ago we had no idea that we would actually make this move. This past week has been incredibly busy. And we're not done yet! It's slowly coming together though. Once we arrive at our rental house, I'm sure we'll all collapse with relief. To finally be able to call Maine home... unbelievable!
