Have a safe trip, and remember to go slow and easy. You'll get here eventually, and crossing the bridge into Maine will be the best experience you've ever had!

I have lived in Maine for 20 years. I have some mixed feelings about the place, but it's still a nice place to live.

Revi,
I have been gone from Maine for the last 25 years....swore I would never come back to live... hee hee hee .... currently building a house there and moving back in 92 days. You are correct.. with all the problems and issues (every place has its problems and issues to some extent) Maine is still a good place to live........ All the reasons I wanted to leave are now all the reasons I want to move back. I have seen a a lot of the US and Europe over the last 25 years and although they all were nice places to visit.. they were not where I could see settling down and growing old (er) We have no doubt there will be things that tick us off after moving back (like snowblowing for the 3rd time in a day or the bugs or excise tax on vehicles) but all in all we are more than ready to "come home". The house is in shambles right now with boxes and the movers are going to be here in less than 4 weeks. We are going to enjoy our remaining time here in Germany so we can have fond memories as we enjoy our new life back in Maine. This board and everyone on it have been great inspiration and help over the last two years and we would like to say thanks to all.

I think the last time I posted here is in October. At that time my husband and I were talking about moving to Maine for a better life. I lived in Florida most of my life and detested it. Beautiful weather but the only good thing about the place. We needed a place we could raise our family and be happy. Since that time my husband moved to Bangor in August and finally in December our 3 kids and I made it here. We experienced our first snow and winter ever. We gave up a completely different lifestyle and all our friends and family and don't regret the move. We absolutely love it here! We have made some new wonderful friends.
We currently are renting a small place and are finally able to look for something bigger to rent.
If anyone knows of a 6 bedroom home for rent in Bangor please let me know!
Thank you for this forum it was a great help in our decision to move here!

So glad that you made it and are enjoying your new life. Wow, a 6 bedroom might be hard to find. I assume you are in touch with a realtor to help you?
As for us, DH had a phone interview today. A company needs a sales rep from Augusta north to PI. We aren't ready to list the house yet, but if this had been a good fit, we would've managed. Sadly, the job was not even close to what DH expected from their ad. It was a stab in the dark at best so it's really not a big disappointment.

Welcome to Maine Reshet! I can relate to the "no regrets" sentiment. We've been SO happy here. Good luck with finding a bigger house. Have you tried Craig's List yet? I'm sure you'll find something.

Me, either, El. Elcarim and I both just moved here from Texas, Reshet. Not only have you found a great place to live, you've found a great place to find info. A lot of people locally ask where I found out about certain things, and how I met the people I've made friends with. They were surprised to learn about this forum. Must be the best kept secret in Maine.
