I live in the Hartford, CT area and was thinking of driving up to Maine for the Memorial Day weekend. I want to go to Acadia and Baxter National Parks and just explore the state in general. It's a 5-6 hour drive from here, so I could leave early tomorrow morning and arrive around 1 or 2 pm. Then head back to CT on Mon morning. Do you think that's enough time to do stuff?
But more importantly, is the entire state fully bloomed and everything is nice and green yet? I don' want to bother going if it's still looking like spring with leaves not fully bloomed and stuff.
Baxter is NOT a national park and never will be. It belongs to the people of Maine, who get in free. Other visitors are welcome for a fee like national parks.
Apple and cherry blossoms are out as far north as Lincoln and it will be hot tomorrow so the last of the blossoms will be out. Everything green is out. Everything black is out too; such as black flies, black bears and moose.

So all of the deciduous trees are nearly 100% bloomed with full green leaves now?
Bears and moose are scary. I should probably avoid hiking in the woods at all costs then.
Bear and moose want to stay way from you. I am in the woods every day. I seldom see them. The last trees to leaf out are ash trees. They are just beginning to leaf out. They are also the first trees to lose their leaves in the fall, yet they prosper in Maine as we Mainers do.
If you are worried about wildlife, just play your bagpipes. You won't see any wildlife.
Up here by Bangor most of the leaves started popping within the past week, nearly all of the trees are sporting various shades of green. Blackflies weren't too bad and didn't last long, they seem to be gone but it's hard to say yet if the worst is over. You aren't likely to see bear or moose, some are around but they hide well and don't really want to see you.

C'mon up.

When I go up to Maine, I want it to be FULL 100% GREEN. Fully bloomed. I want it to look more like summer than spring.
I live in Greater Bangor, and today seemed pretty summer-like in terms of the leaves being fully out. It's still a little bit early, so it might not be 100%, but it's pretty close, at least here.
As for the poster who said the black flies are gone, I disagree. I hiked in Amherst this evening, and there are still plenty of them. I experienced the same while mowing the lawn.
I would say yes for Acadia National Park. They are not dark green, but even the lupines are getting proto-buds in front of my house(on Mount Desert Island). But everything was very very late this year.
