A monument is quite different from a Park. It requires an outlay of funds for management which the Park Service does not have in its budget.

Only time will tell if there is any economic 'growth'.

There are many guesses either way.

How much money is this monument going to put into the region?

Its very unlikely that the National Park Service will get it.

In the last 20 years all the national monuments(including a bunch by Clinton) were managed by the Bureau of Land Management or specifically the National Landscape Conservation System

Check out the WIKI above to see in what way it may be designated.

It is ppossible that the Forest Service or the Fish and Wildlife Service could get it too---but less likely. The least likely is that it will be turned into a national park. Since its mostly just endless forrest and nothing especially notable like Devil's Monument or Cadillac Mountain or Thunder Hole ---THAT MOM AND DAD AND THE KIDS WILL WANT TO VISIT.

I'd fathom a guess more than is coming in now, which is nothing.

In regards to economic growth yes there is growth, but it is the type of growth that is bad. In exchange for taking away full tome jobs in mills and logging with good pay amd benefits, all that is added is alot more part time minimum wage jobs, so mill workers go from a good full time job making a decent amount, to a part time job making less, and they have to provide their own healthcare.

But there will be a small amount of park rangers now...

They didnt take away any full time jobs in mills... the mill jobs were already gone. The way I look at it. If even just 1 person (being a bit exaggerated to prove a point), but if 1 person goes up there and spends money that they wouldnt normally have spent in the area, this is a good thing. That means the gas stations off the highway, the place selling groceries, beer and firewood can maybe stay in business and not have to collect state benefits.

They also didnt take away any logging jobs, as this land wasnt being logged before this.
So while those two points would be great points if they were valid, they are not.

President's Maine Monument Decree Subverts Representative Democracy to Advance Elite Special Interests

Washington, D.C. - Today, President Obama, despite opposition by Maine's local residents and elected officials, unilaterally created a national monument in Maine's North Woods. House Committee on Natural Resources Chairman Rob Bishop (R-UT) issued the following statement:

"The President is using the Centennial as a cover to subvert the will of Maine's citizens and leaders. The only votes taken on this proposal, at the local and state level, have demonstrated opposition from Mainers. If the President cared about local voices and improving our National Park System, he would have done this through the public process and not behind closed doors. Instead, he's hijacked a moment of celebration to advance powerful elite special interests over Maine's economy and citizens."

As i stated the section of land donated will mostly not be effected via logging decrease as it was not logged. The issue comes when these lefties manage to implement a "safe Zone" around the to be park, as attempted elsewhere, and passed elsewhere, although at the state level.

Without these additions it is mostly just removed from taxes, as those activities were already banned, but they could possibly become banned around the park on private land.

And an asteroid could possibly fall on us too, and then this would be a moot point.
