Forum Moniker
How did you choose your forum name?
No need to answer if it's too personal or you would just rather not tell us.
Maineah is pretty obvious.
"Maine"for the Maine forum
"Ah" added to give it the traditional Down East flair---
Plus I think Village Idiot was taken.

I became involved in Maine land issues in 1973. Somebody hung that nickname on me around 1980 and it stuck. I'll be going down to the Maine Bar Association conference on land and subdivision law in Portland in May. I'm not a lawyer and don't play one on TV, but they are glad to see me when I show up because I have been on planning boards since back in 73 or 74. Yeah, that was 35 years ago before some of those lawyers were born. They like the perspective.

Elston was the name of a man who befriended and helped my parents out when they were young and getting started; (around 1938-1940) they gave me his name as my middle name to thank him for all he had done for them. He lived in Essex, Ma.
They moved on while I was a baby and I hadn't ever met him but my mother had told me what a kind man he was. About 10 years ago I was retracing my roots and went down to Essex; by a set of "lucky" happenings I located him; he was in his late 80's or early 90's at the time. He told me stories about my folks and even showed me their apartment overlooking the shipyard. It was a very sweet re-union of Elstons. I use his name as my moniker to honor him.

Mine was so recently discussed, that I don't want to be redundant!
Elcarim/miracle
History - I selected the screen name approx 12 years ago when I had been trying, unsuccessfully, to conceive for several years. I learned about the many support forums available online and got involved.
12 years, 3 children and one near death experience later, I have come to realize that my screen name will be with me forever. It has become the prophetic declaration over my life!

BackToNE = back to northeast. That was all I was hoping for when I first joined but we have since decided that it will be back to Maine and nothing else will suffice.

bydand - old gaelic for "abiding". It is the old family motto from Scotland and Ireland. The family (Gordon) goes way back in Scotland and even has our own plaid. My particular branch has both Scottish and Irish roots.

I am not originally from Texas (I'm a legal alien, Saskatchewan-born), but my husband is American. We spent from 1997 to 2007 in Central Texas, and my DH and I adopted our two kids there. Hence the name txmom; I am truly blessed with these children.
