Belfast has Marshall Wharf Brewing, which is small, funky, and cool.

If you're going to stick to the area between Portland and Bar Harbor, towns to check out include Freeport, Bath (not touristy, but an interesting place for lunch), Boothbay Harbor (off the highway a bit), Rockland, Camden, Belfast, and, of course, Bar Harbor. Bucksport won't have the seafood, but is a little bit interesting. Ellsworth is a good place for lunch.

On your way back, I'm assuming you will be looking for a faster route. Consider stopping in Bangor, which will be the second-largest city you will see on your trip after Portland and is on the faster, mostly interstate highway route. There aren't a ton of great seafood options, but there is lots of local beer, including the fast-growing Geaghan's Brothers, Orono Brewing Company, Sea Dog, Mason's Brewing, 2 Feet, and other options in nearby Orono. It's a good place to stop for lunch and a couple of hours of exploring.

If you're passing through Rockland why not take a little time and walk out on the Rockland Breakwater. It's a man made rock pier nearly a mile long that leads to a lighthouse. Haven't been there in a long time but this summer (I keep saying that for about 10 years now) am going to take that walk again. You'll get a lot of fresh air and hopefully sunshine. And it's free. Google it for more info.

Everytime I walk there I think about how it was made without modern machinery.... it amazes me every single time.

Very nice walk, just watch your step! It's beautiful on a summer day. Sit down on one of the large rocks around the lighthouse with a good book for an hour if you wish - it's a good way to pass the time in the sun.
