Hi. We are in the process of closing on a home on Orr's Island (Harpswell area). The cell reception at the house is horrible. I was wondering if cell phone boosters work/are worth the expense? And what carriers might be the best option for that area? We're moving from PA and currently have AT&T, never had issues with coverage before, and have no clue where to start investigating. We will definitely get a landline. Any advice would be appreciated.

We have a booster in one of the trucks. It takes a couple of bars up to four bars on 4G. It was worth the cost. I'm not in the right area to know about reception in your area. Congratulations on your new home and move to Maine!

Thanks, Maine Writer. It's useful to know someone is using these and they work. I guess I'll need to investigate more for the area where we'll soon be residing.

We live north of Harpswell, closer to Gardiner. Verizon is our cell phone carrier and we purchased a cell phone booster for the house. It works through our internet service (Spectrum, formerly known as Time Warner Cable). No landline and no cable, just cell phone service. My husband and I still have basic flip phones. No problem with cell reception at our home thanks to the booster. Hope this helps!

BTW, I was in Washington County, Milbridge area and my Sprint coverage was useless. I was told by long time locals that AT&T and US Cellular work the best.

And congrats on Maine move. Hopefully God willing I'll be there permanently before I leave this earth...

Just so people are not confused, you have a network extender which is different than a cell phone booster. Cell boosters do not require an internet connection.

US cellular works fine in Washington County and about 20 miles into New Brunswick

Thank you for clarifying this. My husband also explained the difference between the two, but it was too late to edit my post. The network extender functions like a personal cell phone tower, whereas the cell phone booster takes an existing signal and strengthens it. The network extender works great for using our Verizon cell phones in the home and in the yard.
