Default movies & maine

I would like to here from people about their favorite movie that either mentions maine or takes place in maine with or without real footage. My favorite movie that involves maine is Island in the sky, a black & white john wayne movie about a downed air command transport plane and it's rescue mission based out of presque isle. It's a Ernest K Gann story that's based on actual events. I would like to find out if the base in the movie was ever an actual place in presque isle. Something about the feel of the movie really captures the remoteness of the area at the time.

I believe we had quite a lively thread along the same topic last fall.
You may want to search for it as many hidden movie gems were discovered and uncovered

moughie, i have tried searching froums before for things the search options never work right so i gave up. Plus new people join all the time, plus i want to share my favorite movie so others can consider it as well. Also even if people remember the same thread they might have seen something in the mean time they might want others to see. I just think it's a nice way to find out about new stuff that's all.

Very true- I was not criticizing you

I sure discovered some movies I had never heard about. I believe elston recommended one, a small independent film made in Maine, that I later found on blockbuster.com and thoroughly enjoyed! Maybe he can remind me of the title???

One of my all time favorites is The Whales of August ( starring Bette Davis in her 80's!!)
