They probably have a pill to cure that phobia now.

A couple of touring kayaks which are used a lot and a 10' pontoon paddle boat. and my 10' sailboat which should be retired this year.. For the money the kayaks and the paddle boat have been the best investment, during the summer you need (DIBS) a reservation to get near them.We always take the Kayaks with us to the Lobster Festival, and put them in at Duck Trap in Lincolnville which is free.. Camp and the sunset PRICE LESS
Beautiful photos!

We used to have an Old Town white water canoe with a flat bottom, one of the ABS plastic ones. We used to take it to a hill in the winter and go sliding with it. What a blast that was. It got tiring pulling it back up the hill but it was fun going down!

Yea, but I take too darn many as it is. Boating just isn't my thing. Although I love the water.

I knew a man with a fear of boats. No matter how big or safe the boat was he just couldn't get past the thought of the water underneath the boat being over his head. The image of the depth of the water was all he thought of and he just would not go out in a boat.

I am not sure what it is. I used to go in boats alot when I was a kid. A friend and I used to go out lobstering with her father and loved riding on the bow. Qh well, the rest of you fine folks can enjoy boating for me.

You see, when you're sailing you are already at your destination. No need to hurry

BUt you can turn the motor on if you need to. The only time we turned the motor on was to get in and out of the mooring field.

That's a good way to look at it since you're not going to go very far anyway! To each his own! It's definitely a whole different mind set than the one I have. By the way real sailors don't use their motor to pick up the mooring float.

Default Aahhhhh, my passion (or one of 'em)

Althought we're talking big bucks to repower newer outboard are MUCH more efficient at fuel utilization than even 5 years ago. This goes for bigger models also. Mercury makes 225 HP (Optimax XS) that will push a shallow draft speed hull at better than 6 miles per gallon at cruise speeds ... that's not too bad. The newer 4 stroke engines seem to be more efficient too!

I run a 19 1/2 foot bass boat with an older EFI Merc and my gas consumption makes me run less and fish more ... and guess what ... I'm catching more fish! There's and upside for you!

I hear Evinrude has a new computer aided fuel injected two stroke that is supposed to sip gas as compared to even the newer four strokes. No matter how old the motor they don't use much gas idling or shut off!
