The Merc is more efficient than even Bombardier's Evinrude Etec motors (faster too). All the new direct injection motors are controlled by microprocessors to manage fuel mixture/consumption.

Brand new costs for a 200 HP 2 stroke is probably around $14,000 and the 2 strokes is cheaper than the 4 strokes.
