Default Packard Found in Auburn

Received my Old Cars Weekly paper today and Auburn, ME made page 3. Seems that a 1937 Packard valued @ $120,000 was stolen a couple weeks ago in Naples. It doesn't say state but I think it was Naples, FL. It was found Tuesday in the parking lot of a local hotel in Auburn. Car was in trailer hooked to pickup truck. A man reportedly told people in area he was trying to sell the car. He showed car to the hotel maintenance man. Maintenance guy saw story about the stolen car that nite on TV and called police. The car owner - John Betz - was offering a $10,000 reward. Lucky maintenance guy. Thats an easy 10 grand. According to article they're still looking for thief.

It was stolen from Naples, Maine which is just outside of Portland. So it didn't go far in its jaunt away from home. Bet the owner let out a huge sigh of relief that it was found in good shape so quickly (even though a week would seem like forever during this circumstance)

I thought there was a Naples, Maine but wasn't sure. Couldn't find it in my Atlas. Article said Mr. Betz wintered in Florida so thought maybe it was FL (and maybe one of the Florida posters grabbed the Packard on their way up to Maine and tried to recoup expenses.......just kidding..)

When I say just outside of Portland, I am talking "County" "just outside of Portland." Which is anything less than a 45 minute to an hour drive. Naples is located on Rt. 302, north of Seabago Lake, right on the southern end of Long Lake.
