My DH worked with Judd Nelson when they were teenagers. When he worked at LL Bean, he met John Travolta and his wife. I have run into Stephen King and his wife at the bagel shop in Bangor.

Kurt Russell was a friend of the late University of Maine hockey coach, Shawn Walsh. He is a big UMaine hockey fan.

I haven't run into her yet, but Glenn Close is married to David Shaw who founded a big corporation in Maine. She runs the Beach to Beacon every year.

Joan Benoit Samuelson 80's Olympic Woman's Gold Medalist is a Freeport resident. Her kids go to Freeport High school and we see her quite often. She and her husband are very nice folks.

"A few years ago John Travolta got reprimanded by the FAA for doing a flyover of a place on Mount Desert Island. He was piloting a 727 and buzzed the place less than 500 ft above ground"

John Travolta has a 707 and he did the flyover over Isleboro, where he has a house.

I see Stephen King occasionally as he lives about 3 blocks from me. A few years back he and Tabby were sitting in the movie theater about 3 rows in front of us for one of his movies when it was playing here. I have seen Martha Stewart out on her picnic boat out of Southwest Harbor. We were on a small excursion boat at the time and called to her and waved but she just turned around and snubbed us. Kind of funny really. I also have talked with Jeanie Francis down at her lovely shop in Belfast. You may remember she was Laura on one of the soaps for many years. Recently she played in a presentation on the Hallmark Channel.

saw her on a talk show last week and she said they have a house in Scarbrough. As a young teenager I waited on "Soupy Sales" at an old dinner in Cape Neddick. For those of you that can remember even who he was.

"The host of Survivor dates (or at least used to date) one of the contestants that was on the show who is from Westbrook. He has been seen with her at Westbrook."

One of the personalities on Survivor runs a lobster boat out of Vinalhaven and owns a small hotel there. She's a Looker! Last I knew she was doing something in Australia.

"Wow...no one has mentioned Martha Stewart LOL She has an home on Mount Desert Island."

We don't talk about Martha Stewart. She is like the crazy old aunt we hope nobody notices.

Mainers tend to respect each other's privacy. This is not limited to neighbors. It extends to visitors and celebrities.

I have heard some horror tales about her and her reactions to fans. One of the "rumors" was a car was turning around in her driveway AND she came running out to them with a baseball bat! Don't know if it is true or not!

I saw Ted Williams with Bud Levett (spell check) fishing with my father as a child on Sqaupan Lake many years ago,it was quite thrilling as a child.

We need to add E.B. White to the list. A very fine gentleman he was. Also, Paul Stookey.
