Default April 1st...Fishing, Where are you going??

Tuesday is the first day of Fishing season. Who is going? Where are you going? I can't wait to get out there again and I am hoping that when we get to Great East Lake it isn't still frozen.

I wish there were open water up here, so I could go. Not any open water anyplace I know of within a reasonable distance. I have driven down past Bangor a few times to get the first day of open water season in.

Don't tempt me. I have a large job that we are working on a tight deadline and I cannot miss being there this next week. I have been getting my stuff ready, making my lures (crankbait style as well as spoons) so I am set for the season. Changing line on the ol' reels, checking eyelets and rods.

Most importantly though; waiting, waiting, waiting for the shimmer of light off ripples in a pond or lake, the sweet singing sound of water bubbling through a brook and sifting through hanging branches. The smell of fresh Earth and water mingling to make the most intoxicating perfume I have ever had the fortune to smell (DON'T tell the wife please ). The almost seductive whisper of the line through the guides, followed by (hopefully) the explosive splash of water and the screech of the drag pealing off.

Naw, I'm not looking forward to getting back on the water much .

My husband and I will be going this week. We have a few "secret" fishing spots that I am sure we will need boots and snow pants to get to. Hopefully the "secret" spots won't be heavily fished by the time we get there.

"Gotta spread it around." That is one of the most beautiful ways of putting how fishing feels, that I have ever heard. Thanks.

Ice fishing will have to wait till next year and then I am not TOO sure about that yet. I do love to fish though, so I guess I had beeter try the winter fishing as well. Brrrrrrrrrr............ Don't forget I still have that rotten old Florida blood. Hopefully by next winter I will have adjusted.
