Next Life:Maine
What a difference a day makes.
Seven years ago my oldest sister made an offer on a Villa she was vacationing at in Lake Como,Italy. The owners politely declined the offer and told her that if in the future they decided to sell that she would be the first to know. Well, they did and she was.
Needless to say she jumped at it. A seven bedroom, five bath house right on the water. There is plenty of room for my four sisters, myself and our mom.
We all love the area and have decided this is the way to go.
I will be keeping my house in Santa Fe and visiting the states at least twice a year.
All you wonderful people in Maine, I feel like my heart will always be with you there. I hope to make it to the ya-ya reunion before I move. If not take good care of each other. And wish me luck, my Italian sucks!

What a surprise! Hope it works out great for you... and I am sure that 6 months after you move, you will be speaking Italian like you live there! Immersion (or at least desparation) does that. <g>
Blessed Be.

Best of luck in Italy, Sisters. It's beautiful there! Who knows, maybe you'll run into George Clooney. I read that he has a huge house on Lake Como and spends quite a bit of time there.

Okay, picking my jaw up off the floor. Maine or Italy?? No brainer...Italy!!! It's very un-cool to be jealous of someone who has a chance to live such a wonderful dream, but I have to tell you, my DH & I are sitting here wishing we could come with you. Do you by any chance need a grounds keeper and a cook?? j/k
OMGosh, have a fabulous time and please stay in touch. I wish you only the best.
Oh, and I understand Italian isn't all that hard to learn.

That is so cool, great!
When we lived in Napoli, I was able to ski at Cervinia [which is not far from lago di Como], that one ski resort shares the trails with Zermatt. Como is very near San Simone ski area which I did not have the opportunity to ski.
You are going to enjoy that area so much
