I lived in Rumford for MANY years. Let me start by saying that there is no real dangerous or unsafe sections in Rumford so when I say parts of Virginia are bad I don't mean in a dangerous or unsafe way. There are some nice, middle of the road houses in that section, but there are also many apartment buildings that are less than desirable. Most of Virginia is a nice, clean & quiet place to live. You probably want to steer clear of Virgin, Free & High Streets. I don't really know all the names of the side streets though. I have no idea what Tacoma is like, but be prepared for a boring town. There is a Wal*Mart SuperCenter across the river in Mexico and there is a Hannaford grocery store. There are other small businesses around like a book store, dollar store, video store etc, but that's about it for Rumford ... almost forgot the bowling ally. I was born in Rumford, lived there for nearly 30yrs and Rumford is quite boring if you ask me.

The Virginia section of Rumford is fine, with strong family values and quick access to the area. I live 6 miles from there so please don't be afraid to ask more questions.

I'm moving to Maine but not sure of the city just yet, I'm divorcing and would like to relocate to a colder climate such as Maine. I like the water areas and homes seem to be relatively affordable but some postings are scary about the job situations. I'm in the dental field so I don't know how many dentists are in Maine and do any of them have a strong drive to succeed? I'm looking for a practice that offers technology and chartless records. Any suggestions for anyone would be appreciated. I need a home as well. Thanks! D

Dentists are a rare breed in Maine, as more than half the population is on Medicare, Maincare, or some other non reimbursable program. I wonder if your skills will transfer to another medical area.
