The pump takes care of it. I have a back up pump and a generator if something fails. It takes about three hours for the water to back up to a depth of a foot in the low corner of the cellar(big cellar) if the pump fails. During Hurricanes and such the pump may run without stopping for 24 hours or more. It's all run off from the roof and as soon as it stops raining (the sun is peeking through as I write this) we'll be ok. I should have a positive drain system installed but I'm too cheap. Sump pumps are far cheaper.

A river runs under it
We are already fighting runoff from River road in Milo, though our would-be trailer park. It is running in small streams with rapids rapidly developing, under the oil tank, under the trailer and down all the gravel driveways.

Don't worry, if it 'gets' you. Just keep your head above the water, and go with the current. As you float by, I will come out in my kayak and get you.

Better get moving Forest!!! Me thinks Star and K might need rescuing soon! The rain doesn't appear to be stopping... although we had heard that it was forecast to do so pretty soon here.
We currently have a basement full of water, sump pump running full-bore w/ no end in sight. Oh well, such is life I guess. We can see it running into the basement through the rock foundation. Maybe we have the same issue w/roof runoff...will be checking that out.

The NWS is predicting another 1/2-1" of precipitation tonight. We have about an inch of snow on the ground and it's coming down heavy.

Rain is over here and the cellar is drying out. The pump is down to once every three minutes or so. The worst is over. It's windy and we had a lightning strike knock out the power in a few stores downtown but nothing serious.

I checked a few minutes ago. The West Enfield monitoring station said 13.9, and it occured to me that I should go out and tie-up our kayaks. I got back inside and already the station says 14.5 feet. So it jumped very quickly that half foot.
