well our trailer is still on its foundation, whatever that amounts to... and the leak in the kitchen cabinet is not dripping any more (I am thankful we don't eat out of boxes... we would have lost a lot of food before I opened the cupboard and discovered where the water on the counter had come from...)
There is a grand canyon along both sides of the trailer, going down the driveway and the Subaru will have to dig its front tire out of the earth to get into town today, but it will... Somehow my pickup didn't sink much.
If I can dig out a film camera that has good batteries I'll start shooting again; the digi's batteries are dead, darn it.

Hope you folks are all doing OK this morning.
I'm on the road and woke up to the NECN station reporting on the flooding up yonder.
Sounded like it might be getting a little worse before it got better ...?

Looking at it now the rise did not happen as steep as they were predicting.
Right now it is at 17.6 ft.
But really looking outside it does not look that bad. Just a little bit above my marker that I had set for 16 foot last year.

The East Branch is rising like a skyrocket. Take a look at the chart:
USGS Real-Time Water Data for USGS 01029500 East Branch Penobscot River at Grindstone, Maine
Normal flow for this date is 6,000 CFS and that's in spring runoff. Flow right now is 31,300 CFS. I hope everybody is on high ground. I also hope you don't have any friends asleep on the East Branch from Staceyville on down through Grindstone and East Millinocket to Medway.
This is well above the 50 year flood stage and nearing the 100 year flood stage.
There is widespread flooding and it's rising fast everywhere. Water is thundering over the dam in Mattawamkeag.

Yes they are above the river's level.
However our forest has it's own issues with run-off right now. Lots of standing water everywhere.

I just read at the Portland Press Herald website that UMaine-Fort Kent is closing the dorms and sending 150 students to temporary housing at UMaine-Presque Isle and Northern Maine Community College. The sewage treatment plant for Fort Kent is under water and there are fears that the international bridge may wash out. Highest water in recorded history by one account.

Here was the view out my front door this morning. The potato crew measured a total of 4 1/4 inches for this storm.
