My family and I are exploring some areas on the seacoast in NH and ME to move to closer to my sister in Dover, NH. I have received many suggestions to live in South Berwick but I haven't really heard any specific reasons. I've heard it's a great community but what makes it so? Are people friendly and welcoming and open minded? It seems like a great location, a little further from the ocean than I'd like but not too far. We are coming from Somerville, MA and will commute 2 or 3 times a week to the Boston area for work. We have two small children (under 3). From what I gather, South Berwick has great schools and good family vibe. Are there a lot of organized events and activities for kids? The challenge I've discovered with York and Kittery is that it seems hard to find kid-centric neighborhoods because of the prevalence of retirees and tourists and vacation homes. Is South Berwick a better option?
