I'm short one small Gerber pocket knife (which was a gift from my brother, and had a less than 2" blade) that "disappeared" when I went through the metal detector at the courthouse when I went to do my civic duty, I didn't realise it had been "confiscated" until after I got home.
I don't "collect" knives but I have several hunting knives I like a lot. A friend of mine's father is a knife maker in Yarmouth. Bohrman knives. They're hard to get as he makes very few. Several of the best Maine guides carry Bohrman Knives. My favorite knives are my Henkel's Five stars I have in the kitchen! A gift from my Mother-in-law many years ago!

I bought a Green River skinner for 50 cents at a yard sale last year. I bought a very nice S&W Highway Patrolman off a picnic table at a yard sale. I like Col Townsend's statement: "Only accurate rifle are interesting."

Got a Yamaha XS11 and a Yamaha SR 500.

Guns are tools. I have a selection of tools, in various shapes, sizes and forms.

I have used firearms in my own defense.
I have used firearms in the defense of others.
I have used firearms in the defense of my livestock.
I have used firearms in the defense of property.

I have spent six years of my career working LEO; three years stateside, and three years overseas. Where I was armed everyday, wore a badge and armor.

And I spent sixteen years onboard various subs, where I occasionally wore a firearm to guard the sub while in port.

I am in favour of firearm ownership, I think that every non-felon [and / or non-loony bird] should be required to own one. And that most folks should own at least six of them.

But methinks you can only shoot one or at most two at a time...

To answer some of the rest of the questions, I neither love nor hate guns. I am respectful of them as tools that can accomplish a lot -- be it in the hands of an expert or in the hands of a wacko. I have not had to do with them enough that I find myself truly comfortable with them -- yet.

(and on another topic, yes, I DO have knives -- several -- one of which was made especially for me for defense many years ago; It is a small push dagger and just handling it I have impressed local thugs enough to get a "leave her alone" street rep, so I heard later. I have never needed to use it for defense but have used it at work to cut tape, on the homestead to render goats dead, and on the road to smear peanut butter on bread. I have several knives in my kitchen I am every bit as fond of, though they have less history.

And while I do not have a motorcycle now I learned to ride at age 50 -- MSF class -- and my only ride was an Honda Silverwing 500 cc that was too tall for a 5' woman and topheavy to boot. Doc Martins with inch thick soles made it possible but I had to watch where and how I stopped. I would love to have a smaller, shorter bike but likely will not find one.

And beer is good. <g> Anything but Bud...

I do support responsible gun ownership and I also support those who choose not to -- for whatever reason.

We love you starwalker! Good luck with the bike riding! You can get a bike to fit your stature! A good bike shop can hot knife shave the foam of a seat and refit the cover to help you.
The shaved foam, lowered shocks, and the Doc Martins should have you at ground level!
