Default Why Rumford?

Maineah~Maineah~Maineah~ (said in my most exasperated voice) LOL

I didn't drive all the way from Texas JUST to see Rumford!! I drove ALL THE WAY from Texas to see ALL of Maine! Just so happens that Rumford is not only HIGH on my list of places to visit....it is also one of the first towns I will come to entering the state from New Hampshire!

Now, as 7th stated already there are numerous reasons to visit the big "R" town! I have spent the better part of the last 9 months looking at numerous Maine sites online. I'm really intrigued with Rumford in particular partially because of the low cost of property! I'm really fascinated with Strathglass Park...and a town with a river running through it! Whether or not I do anything other than spend a night in town and head north/south is yet to be determined! I've lots of places I want to visit and my length of stay is still open...

I know I want to see all of the "big" towns and alot of the small ones too :-)

Stacie

That answers the question! Have a nice trip...try to see the coast as much as possible.
It really is a nice time of year to be here before the tourists hit. The weather might not be so cooperative the first part of the week though!

Some of the best fishing and hunting in the state is in the area.
We have undoubtedly the best ski area on the east coast-Sunday River.
Beautiful mountains and wide open spaces.
Affordable land and low property taxes.
The list goes on and on.
Most importantly, I live here!!

In Maine, we have lots. Ocean Views, Mountains, city sites, and peaceful open spaces. It's only a drive to get what you want to see.

Gee, GoBangor, do you suppose that you might be just a tiny bit biased?

Let me think here, with a handle like: "GoBangor" I would have thought that you were more in favour of Hermon.

Default I'm in MAINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow. It's really hard to process! It took a long time to get here in more ways than one, but I did it!

So, I left a day later than planned due to that pesky check engine light....I had it checked and it's a problem for sure to the tune of about $1200.00 but it's not a problem that will cause me to break down...so, I hit the road today....

My friend mapquested it out for me before I left...I kept looking at the mileage and the time and saying that can't be right! It doesn't take 4 1/2 hours to drive 180 miles....nope, it takes 5 1/2!!!! It started snowing in VT and snowed thru most of New Hampshire...back to a HEAVY rain in Maine.
It was my first time EVER to see SNOW! Talk about excited :-)

So, as planned I headed up to Rumford. It was both exactly what I expected and nothing like I expected! I couldn't find a 'friendly open place' to stay for the night so I backtracked a bit...and found a lovely site and when I went to dinner by myself I met the nicest stranger who REFUSED to allow me to pay for my dinner...even though I did everything in my power to not allow it, he bought my dinner when he found out I was a traveler all the way from Texas on my big adventure. Helps restore my faith in humanity....

as did....

MY BIG FIRST TIME EVER CD MEMBER MEETING! Yes folks, I met 7th Generation today!!! He had DM'd me with the location of his business and I stopped right in to say hello! He was as friendly as could be and I was thrilled that he had that map you all rave over for sale! I got me one and will be pouring over it later :-) I will stop back by tomorrow when I am thru that way again! More on that tomorrow!

So, I'm thrilled to be here and love what I have seen so far!

Stacie
