Oakland
Can anyone tell me anything about Oakland, ME? Is it safe there? How is the crime rate? Any info at all would be helpful. Thanks.

Oakland is a town located near Waterville. No real crime to speak of. The local
high school is called Messalonskee

I had a webfriend named Erin Hume that lived in Oakland. I lost contact with her some years ago.

My Aunt and Uncle lived there for many years. It's a nice area and easy access to the larger town of Waterville. In Oakland though, its not hard to be minutes from town, but to still have that rural, in the woods, atmosphere.

That's where my wonderful husband was living when I met him. It's a very small town about 10 minutes from downtown Waterville and just a few minutes from the area of Belgrade Lakes, which is gorgeous. At one time, not so long ago, Oakland had one of the best school systems in central Maine but I don't know if that is still the case.
