I haven't tried either system so I can't say how good they work but I think I'd give something a try before pulling off the siding.

i said not if he puts it back to the way it was .the guy says well he dont have a choice he has to replant the trees.the newyorker looked at us like we were crazy and then he says i dont have that kind of money.the guy from lurk looked right at him and said you you better find it sir .so i asked how mutch do you think it will cost the reply i got was .wich one the fine or the reconstrution.the (nyer) says fine what fine?

Moral of story: New Yorkers can be the ultimate "bad neighbors"! Folks from away have to learn to respect the property boundaries of others! Ranger, you may be trying to be too nice to this guy. Let 'em get whacked by the LURC. There is more involved than getting "bested by a 15-pound rodent" (the beaver). The New Yorker was trying to get riverfront property views for his own land, by destroying part of yours. He should pay for that - and learn the lesson not to do it next time!

New Yorkers can be great neighbors too! There are lots of country folk and farmers in upstate.
This isn't about being a local or "from away". The lack of common sense and decency crosses all demographic and geographic lines.

There is a photo of my house on the Off Topic thread. It will give you an idea of what the area looks like a bit. I don't have any more photos to post right on hand. Schools are very good in the Freeport area. Low crime. Very high winter heating bills are on the horizon so I'd be cautious about that. We're already looking at $500.00 a month year round on a budget plan for heating oil at the projected price of $4.00 a gallon this coming winter.
Heating oil prices are going to make the North East very unattractive to anyone thinking about making the move here. Tacking on $500/month on top of a big mortgage and the price of gasoline and..... well you get the picture.
