Where are you now? Why do you think it's so bad? What makes you think it would be better somewhere else? What do you do for work? How many kids do you have ? What are their ages...you really need to give more information before you can expect a reasonable answer

I'm still amazed that a move to Augusta would be considered a move "up north"? LOL!

All depends on where you are looking from, I guess. It's Southwest to me. But possibly less crowded and with a different feel than the southern Maine cities on the coast? Just a guess, as I am not familiar with that area either.

Kittery is almost as far South as you can go without leaving Maine.

A lot of people have been moving to Sidney, half way between Augusta and Waterville. Lower taxes because there aren't a lot of services, although I did notice just before we left 2 years ago that even in Sidney, taxes were creeping up a bit. Still, nothing like what you are probably paying in southern Maine.

Sidney would give you the option of employment in either WTVL or Augusta, same with the schools and shopping.

I don't know specifics about apartments. Most in WTVL advertise "no pets".

For rentals, I would check craigslist. Just for fun (and because I'm bored), I did a quick search for Augusta, 3 bedrooms, pets allowed. There were 12 rentals available. Hope this helps and good luck!

Without getting into another protracted discussion on lines, Bangor is in southern Maine.
