Question Church bells in Maine

I love the sound of real church bells. They can be cheerful, somber, welcoming, declarative, depending on the state of mind of the listener. I can hear them from my porch in Harmony on Sunday mornings.

Anybody know of other authentic church or school bells in Maine? Especially Central Maine?

Thanks!

Here's an interesting story on a Maine Church Bell.

St. Johns church on Pleasant St in Brunswick still ring their bells. It's quite lovely on Sat & Sun listening to them play just before mass. They also still ring them on the hour -every day. Forget your watch at home? No problem, just listen for the bell!

Home sweet home....

No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manner of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.

In a barn up the road is an old bell from a church in town. It was located across the road from the Barlow farm, which was part of Sudbury, Canada at the time. In the mid 1800's it burned to the ground and the only thing left intact was the bell. I've talked to family members about building a nice stand for it, but so far they are hesitant. The bell was cast in Boston and I'd dare say it weighs over 500 lbs.

Default Brunswick

While not a church, the Memorial Hall Chapel at Bowdoin College recently had it's two towers completely rebuilt and the carillon expanded to, I believe, 23 bells. They chime quarterly during most of the day and can be played at will from the control booth in the balcony of the chapel.

Carillons are nice. Alfred University In New York where my son will start college this fall has a huge glass enclosed carillon on the campus. It is quite impressive.
