Any over 55 communities, or just plain neighborhoods, with lots of retirees. Dont want to be alone, in the wilderness. Love to fish.

I don't know whether Naples is the outer limit of how far from Portland you're willing to live. In case you'd consider going one town farther:

https://bridgtonliving.com/.

First houses there were built six years ago. Last ones were finished earlier this year. So the houses are new and in good shape.

There are several as that's a large geographic area, but it takes a bit of searching through deeds if to learn if a neighborhood is restricted to 55+ and/or working with an agent that can identify them with you.

Thanks! I did see this community on a over 55 website. Do you have any additional info. I know it is a small community. Any problems, that you know of.

The only possible significant issue I'm aware of is one house that I know of on one of the streets in the complex, C Street. That house is on the uphill side of the street, and the owner once mentioned to me briefly that they've had some flooding. I have no idea how serious that has been, or whether any other houses on that side of C Street have that issue (possible, because there's a steep embankment right behind the houses on that side of the street).

Anyway, that would be something to check into with a house you looked at there, especially any on the uphill sides of streets, with embankments close behind them. Again, don't know whether it's really a serious issue with any house there.

Other possible problems mostly depend on what works (or doesn't work) for you:

If you're driving, it's a short drive to local shopping and downtown Bridgton. Walking, it would be a bit of a hike, and that would be along some fairly busy main roads that don't have sidewalks.

The smallest houses in that community are rather tiny. Think of a little cottage--just like in the name of the community--that's essentially like a two-bedroom apartment except that it's a stand-alone house. The larger houses seem decent-sized even for a couple, though this always depends on how much space you prefer.

It's an HOA community, so you'd need to check on whether any of the regulations would be major negatives by your standards.

Those are the potential downsides I'm aware of.
