You need to have A car -- could be a friend's or relative's vehicle -- legally registered, inspected, and insured. The state does not provide a car for road tests.

I used my brother's car back in 1974 to take my test! It was the only car in the family with an automatic transmission!

My daughter used 3 different vehicles the three times she took. First, was her best friend's car. Then a truck belonging to a friend of ours, and finally our truck. Either they were tired of seeing her or took pity on her, because she still cannot drive!
