Hi my name is Barbara and I live in Virginia. I have 2 sons that live in Maine. The youngest of the two got his first job at Wal Mart in Augusta and lived with his older brother. Well to make a long story short he messed up big time. He took $20 here and $30 there from Wal Mart and got caught was arrested, got fired and his brother kicked him out. He stayed with friends for awhile but there landlord says he has to go. Is there anywhere he can go that will help him find a job and a place to stay.

Hi Barbara,
I would suggest the US Army. He will have opportunity to learn a trade while getting paid for it and have a place to stay and food to eat. Not to mention he might learn to be more responsible - all while serving his country.
I was 20 once - army did wonders for me. I got out soon after the gulf war but often times wished I had stayed in.
Best of luck to you and yours.

The US Navy tends to pay much better, in some case far better.

NOT NESSARALEY DEPENDS ON HOW BAD THE CHARGE WAS IN SOME CASE'S
THE JUDGE WILL ORDER THEM TO JOIN.THE ONLY CHANCE HE HAS WOULD BE THE ARMY OR THE MARINES. BECOUSE THE NAVY AND AIRFORCE HAVE QUITE HIGH STANDERDS.DONT GET ME WRONG I LOVED THE TIME I SPENT IN THE ARMY BUT TO BE HONEST THEY WILL TAKE JUST ABOUT ANY ONE.
IF ITS A FELLONEY CHARG HE DOESNT HAVE A CHANCE.BTU I WILL TELL YOU
IF HE DOES GO IN SOME BRANCH THEY WILL NOT TOLLERATE STEALING.
BE IT ARMY AIR FORCE NAVY MARINES ITS A BROTHER HOOD AND YOU DONNT HURT YOUR BROTHER.IF HE IS ON PROBATION TELL HIM TO ASK HIS PROBY OFFICER TO TALK TO A RECRUITMENT OFFICER.THATS ALL I CAN TELL YOU AND GOOD LUCK.

^^ Standards have changed, they were taking some felons and lots of GEDs since finding people who are hot to trot regarding two, three, four, five tours in Sand Hell is a limited pool.

I believe judges ordering folks into the military went out in the 60s or 70s at the latest. Not that it's a bad idea in all cases.

Does the kid have an alcohol or drug problem? If so, he needs to address it first or it will just get worse if he gets into the military and has some disposable income and some compadres similarly inclined.

He can attend AA or NA and ask around regarding available help.

The city probably has a social services office. Possibly the social worker there can give him some direction.

He could seek out a Salvation Army office.

Good luck, hopefully he will catch his bad habits before they lead him to a place he really doesn't want to go.
