Oooh- I'm glad this thread was brought back- I found my info!

I come from a bunch of hooligans with the last name Eaton, originally from the area around Salisbury, England, but the first one to hit this side of the pond was John (and his wife Ann) in the late 1630's landing in Salisbury, MA, and the first one born here would be their son, in 1646. There were a couple generations that moved up the coast, stopping in Haverhill; Hampton, NH; and Wells before finding this little piece of paradise called Deer Isle up in Penobscot Bay (One of the first white settlers here was William Eaton, in 1762- he even has a wiki!- A Historical Sketch of the Town of Deer Isle - Wikisource). I could go into the rest of the line, but pretty much, we've been populating Deer Isle ever since, with our green eyes and square feet. Credit to William- he picked a real nice place for us!

I've got some Eaton history too. Think we're related?

So do I. Bet we are related in some way or another. I also have Allen, Closson, Sanborn on my mom's side. Have Wessel and Seger and of course, Gray, on my dad's.

This is my tip to you- don't go digging too far into that Eaton genealogy...you might find much more than you would ever want to admit to- you might even be your own grandpa!

My dads side tends to have more of that olive complection. Everyone use to ask us kids if we had any "indian blood" in us. We'd run home and beg our dad to tell us if we did. He'd always say "Sure, you be long to the Black Foot tribe".

We were always barefoot.

My mother's family is from Maine, and dates I forget.

I haven't posted before only because I would have to double check things with my mother because those things are have been forgotten.

I have a grandfather who fought in the civil war and is buried in Springfield, Maine (I saw the grave back in 1994ish.)

I'll have to bring it up in conversation with my mom at lunch soon.
