My family arrived in Massachusetts in 1640 and migrated to Maine in 1800. I'm a 7th generation Mainer, hence the screen name.

My Dads family came to Maine through New Brunswick, Canada sometime in the 1800's, My Mums Dad came up here from Massachusetts. My maternal Grandmother was born in New Brunswick, her Mother was from Maine. They were primarily in the area of Bethel and Gray but I have many family members all over the state.

Rumor has it that one of three brothers in my family was outcast to Maine while it was still part of Mass. There are lots of folks with the family name up here and I'm not related to any of em'.

he, he he...

Default no moss on me

My people have never stayed put, it seems. Germans who went to Russia (Volga Deutsch) and in the next generation came to the US (some of my great-aunts and uncles were born in Russia, some in the US) and were itinerant combine crew, etc. in the midwest (the branch I know the most about) and dirt farmers wherever they ended up.

A minor line moved to Quebec and then to MO (where St. Joseph was allegedly named in his honor as well as the Saint's.) The Rubidoux hotel was named after him, and he was mentioned (unfavorably) in the journals of Lewis and Clark, who deemed him un-American (wouldn't give them a good enough deal on supplies).

All of my aunts and uncles were born in different places in the Midwest and my folks also moved (before, during my dad's Navy service) and afterwards. I am the only one born in MI and I have moved (after leaving home) 27 times (both between states/towns and to different places within a town, not counting the times I moved back to my "beyond the sidewalks" cabin for the summer and into town in the winter so I could get to work.

ONE MORE, when I find and buy a place, and that will be where they will bury me. But my kids are all out west, following the family tradition...

My family has been in Maine since 1620, when they came to Elliot, Maine. They then settled on the Bagaduce River in Brooksville, and have been in Hancock County since. I'd have to unpack my genealogy stuff to give all the details of each generation, but I am not inclined to do so at this time. ( Besides I think its buried way in the back of our storage unit)

That is amazing. You know roots.
I only know that my mother's family is original to these maine parts. I see things as far back as the early 1800's. I haven't pushed on past that. I know if I asked my mother she would have more info on this. My family is mostly northern and some in southern maine too.
My dad's side as southern as Kentucky roots.
