Ya know ya live in Maine...... when there are bear living in "The City".

Tracy Willette, director of Bangor’s Department of Parks and Recreation, said bears are sighted "from time to time" in the City Forest, as are moose, coyotes and other wildlife.

You change from pants, long sleave shirt, jacket in the morning to shorts and short sleaves during the day and back to pants, long sleave shirts, and jacket for the evening.

.....when you can go to the movies by yourself (female) and feel safe to walk back to the motel, alone, at 11:00 at night!

....when you are going to be getting late to check in the motel AND the management leaves the room door unlocked, the key on the dresser, and a note taped to the front door informing you the correct room number!

.....when you are included in family festivities and don't know anyone!

....when you buy too much stuff to take home, have to go to Wal-mart to buy another suitcase AND the cashier doesn't empty the contents to see what we may have stashed inside.

I love Maine, the people, the climate, the values, and so much more.

You know you are in Maine when you ask the phone tech from Fairpoint to put the jack in the utility room and he does just that - but he doesn't wire the jack.

You know you are in Maine when your postman tells you to fill out a card so he can deliver mail to you. He can't just start delivery, you have to tell them that you are officially here in Maine.
