Cost to build
What is the average cost per sq. ft. to build in Washington Co? Does anyone know of a good contractor? Thanks, Andy

I just built new in 2005 with quality materials (hardwood,hardi-plank,full foundation,furnishings,etc...) and it came to about $63 sq/ft. I live between Calais and Eastport and I do know of a great contractor (house completed in 4 months and no "issues"). The cost of electrical has increased since though.

This past week I spoke to Pro-Fab; they sell pre fab homes.
The company I spoke with is Broughman Builders, there located in Ellsworth. The model I am interested in is called The Jackman; a six room three bedroom ranch. I was quoted $125.00 per sq.ft. for a turn key home. That price includes excavation, well, septic, and gravel driveway.

CMPerry, Thanks for the reply. What was your total heated sq. footage? One or two story? Maybe you could PM your contractors name and contact info to me. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Just built a spec house and that 64 per SF sounds pretty close. Your SF is more of a carpentry square foot, not shell or footprint as you might think. You have to take interior walls into consideration. Many carpenters come up with different square footage on the same project though. hahaha
A 1900 sf footprint is closer to 2400 sf by building standards. Add in your land, and it's pretty close.
