Question Simple Eastport directions question

When heading out of Bangor is it best to take rte 9 to Calais and 1 south to Eastport? I'm deep into my folding maps figuring out the best route (Mapquest is for wimps ). BTW - it'll be a Saturday in July we'll be travelling.

Take rt 9 to the Cooper road in Alexander, then left onto rt 191. Then right onto rt 214. at the intersection with rt 1 turn left. that will take you to rt 190, the Eastport road.
It's easier to just take rt 9 to rt 1.

Alternately, you can drive Rt. 9 to Rt. 1, right on 1, then right on 191 to 214, etc.
Our preference (so far) is to drive a little further on Rt. 1 to the Moosehorn Wildlife Refuge, take a right on the Charlotte Road to 214 to Pembroke, left on Rt. 1 about 7 miles to the 190 turnoff to Eastport.

My wife prefers your route to get to our camp. We checked the mileage and it was two miles longer that way. The rods are better, so she does make better time.
