"you and Cindy need to head over to Pokeymoonshine lake and dangle your toes in the water "

Heck, we could do that there at Penamaquan Lake, but it would involve putting the lawn chairs down by the lake, she'd be late... again... etc, etc.

I loved the old houses with the barns attached and all the red roofs. McLaughlin Gardens (oh gosh, is that the right name??) the shops in Portland and the brick streets. I feel in LOVE with Maine hard and told my husband when I got back...we are moving there someday. He told me it was too cold and I told him I would get over it real quick! For those of you who live there...appreciate the beauty you have in Maine!
Thanks moughie for the reply...I thought I was being shunned for being an outsider ;-) I love Maine and the lady I did gardening for is there now for the summer. She has sent me some photos and I will try to add them to my profile if anyone is interested. She is on Long Lake and gets some beautiful sunset photos. Gosh I wish I was there with you all now...

Your photos are lovely. You are a skilled gardiner! I'm glad you fell in love with Maine. I hope you get the chance to move here someday.

i haven't lived in Maine for a few years, but what I miss most is the cool water of the lakes, the crisp summer nights and the absence of billboards. Are they still illegal there? I hate billboards.

I miss wandering down snowy trails in the winter and getting lost in the woods behind my house.

it happen to me when i first move in to the new home, went for a walk in the back yard, lost in the wood, try to call the neighbor cell phone not working, by luck find my way out before dark. it took me 2-3 months to go in the wood again.

Default The islands!

One of my favorite things in Maine is island life. I've lived on both Vinalhaven and North Haven year round and there's nothing like looking across an open water view of Pen Bay in the evening. Visiting the islands can be fun but living there year round reveals, like life in many small towns, a great sense of community and reliance on each other with deep history and great stories. I found the natural beauty on the islands more stunning than any of their mainland counterparts.

the list goes on and on.
I agree with you wholeheartedly. There are too many things I love about Maine to sum it up into one thing. Once the place gets into your soul it stays.

We went driving out a little ways today in Greenbush. Coming back up the long dirt road we saw a beautiful (really it was!) waterfall.
