She's done :):(
Amy graduated today....I didn't cry. I got teary at class night, and got teary at the graduation party we had for her yesterday, but I didn't cry today. I will admit though, I'm feeling a little teary now. She's left for the class trip, her room is very quiet....for the first time in a week! She isn't going to Johnson & Wales in the fall....she'll do a year of the Community College's Culinary Program here, and her enrollment at JWU was deferred to Fall of '09. Knowing that she'll be here another year helps keep me from being weepy...but I also know we've got lots of changes ahead. I'll post some pictures in the off-topic thread when I get a chance....hopefully tomorrow The day was beautiful....I took some pictures tonight, and will try to get them up as well....driving back from Gleason's Cove tonight, top and doors off the Jeep, we ALMOST made it home without getting wet! At least it didn't pour!

I got up early and got housework and laundry done. DH had to work all day. I was on my own...I got the fans running, laid on the couch and took a nap. It was sooo nice! When DH got home from work we sat out on the deck and he grilled some chicken and ham and I made a chef salad for supper. We are in a second floor apartment in the city and it is incredibly hot in here even now. We did not bother to dig out the air conditioner as thankfully we are moving in a couple of weeks to a better location. A relaxing day over all.

Spent the day by having breakfast at the Waco Diner in Eastport about 9:30am. Then had to get the fridge and bed from Corgis. Then headed to Marden's and Wallyworld in Calais. Man was it hot in Calais, and I thought Maine was cool everywhere. Finally we went shopping at the IGA and bought food. Then we went to dinner at the Happy Crab and caught up with some people we knew from last year. My DW MenME will cook our first meal in OUR HOUSE tomorrow morning. Busy day today. Tomorrow its off to the PWD (water people) to pay my last installment, then to the post office and finally to the bank. Then it's back to Calais for the last bit of shopping we need to do. Whew, no wonder we are tired. DW says don't forget we were up at 8am and did things around the house before breakfast.
Thats a wrap. Oops, DW did some yard work and trimmed bushes. Mel the mailman told me yesterday to put up a mailbox because I had mail at the post office.
Oops, I have a good You know you're in Maine joke. You know you're in Maine when the phone tech leaves the jack where you wanted it installed and doesn't wire it. He must of known that I would stroke out if I was billed $108 to wire a phone jack.

My niece graduated Lee Academy yesterday and my nephew will graduate junior high on the 18th. We spent most of the day at my sister's home having a cookout. When we got home I had to water one of the greenhouses and check on the chickens and turkeys. The humidex was 90*, actual air temp 88*. I sprayed the roof with icy cold well water then did something I seldom get to do, I took a nap. Steve needed to go to Bancroft to look at a logging job and the wood he bought. I went with him. We saw a deer, a moose and the turbines at the wind farm. It's still 74* air temp, 78* humidex. The additional insulation we put in last fall seems to have kept the house cool.

My son Thomas graduated from Freeport High school today. We sat in a sweltering gym for 2 1/2 hours! Man was it hot in there. There was no rain in Southern Maine today.
We had a nice party afterwards with the family and some friends and then the graduates took off for a "project graduation" sleepover somewhere. We don't even know where they went as the thing was supposed to be a total surprize to the kids. They did the same thing when my daughter graduated and they ended up in Boston for the night.
It was a long hot day but it was fun!

Thank you moughie!
Maineah we know very little about our kids' trip too....we know that they didn't go rafting this year....and *suspect* that they've headed to Six Flags. All I know for sure is that they'll be back late Wednesday/early Thursday

I went to church. I haven't been since arriving to Maine, other than one trip to check out the directions to a UU church in Portland. Normally I go to church every Sunday and having a church community is important to me.
Today I went to a local church in Gorham. If I could find a church home here, it would save on gas and driving time, but I identify very strongly with the denomination I was brought up in, and the closest is in Portland. The church I went to yesterday, is very beautiful old colonial white steepled Congregational Church and the minister gave a powerful and thought provoking sermon....I liked where he ends up but his theology is a bit different from mine. The people were friendly and welcoming.
I was glad to be there.

I remember when I was a kid, the unassisted swim to "flat rock" in Herring Pond, was an important passage to being a "kid"; it also moved you from "minnow" to "fish" in the Red Cross swimming lesson curriculum.
Congratulations to your 5 y o daughter on making it to the raft!
