We're trying to figure out how much cash we should bring, so I was curious about how many businesses take them. I'm especially curious about eating establishments.

Down this way even the corner store takes them for beer! There are a few places like the Dairy Queen that won't take credit cards and small burger restaurants etc. I can't imagine there would be a restaurant in Eastport that doesn't take credit cards. If you do need cash there are ATM's all over the place.

Thanks for the answer Maineha - I have a personal animose against ATMs, though. I hate the idea of having to pay to access my own money.

BTW - I thought I read somewhere that the Waco doesn't take credit cards, but I can't remember where.

I couldn't tell you for sure as I live in Freeport. It wouldn't surprise me though as many small to medium sized diners won't accept credit cards. Seems like the term "home cooking" means no credit cards in reality. Cole Farms in Gray which is a pretty big diner/restaurant doesn't take credit cards but there is an ATM inside. I hear you with the ATM charges though it is the same reason these places won't take credit cards due to the credit card company's fees.

Waco, Happy Crab, Chowder House, IGA, Raye's Mustard, Wadsworth's, Motel East, all take credit cards. I assume most any place in town does.

Thanks - one of my MySpace friends told me that the pizza place is probably the only place that doesn't. She also told me that the ATMs charge $2 to get your money

Rosie's Hot Dog stand doesn't take credit cards but I'm pretty sure that Bank Square Pizza does take credit cards. The ice cream stand in Perry doesn't take credit cards either but everyplace else does.

uyah...what molly said again. Not a place I have been didn't honor a credit/debit card. I haven't been to Rosie's, and a few of the smaller places, but my hangouts all take Visa/MC. Not so much Discover though.
