Default Question on IGA

Does anyone know if the IGA's gets their tomatoes from any of the dangerous sources? I have some lovely ones I thought I would cook up but don't want to risk it if they are on the list.

I do not know for sure, suggest you call and ask them. I can share that I bought one recently from the IGA here in Milo and ate it (RAW! live dangerously LOL) in tacos and in a salad and have had no ill effects.

PMBird is on a distinguished road
I work in a grocery warehouse (we don't supply IGA), but you can be sure that warehouses are only shipping good tomatoes right now. The recent tomato issue was not a recall, but a warning which means chances are the tomatoes that we had in this area were fine. Our warehouse still chose to be better safe than sorry and we destroyed all the tomatoes that we had in the building EXCEPT for the ones that we had purchased locally.

You can just wash the tomatoes in a warm soap water solution and they will be fine. Wash them and cut the stem end off and you shouldn't have a problem. Fecal Coliform on fruits and vegetables is a lot more common than people think. It's just that we eat most of our vegetables cooked, which takes care of the nasty little bugs. Chives were affected several years ago and most restaurants don't serve chives on backed potatoes now. Cucumbers could just as easily be affected. The reason they sell vegetable brushes is to clean the vegetables before you either cook them or eat them raw.
