If you chose to live along 95 I think the noise is something you have to live with and get over. Most likely 95 was there when the house was bought, and a decision was made that you liked the house, wanted the convenience of being near 95, and would compromise with the noise.

You have to laugh at some of those loud pipe Harley guys pulling up to a stop light while constantly twisting the throttle and making all the noise. They don't seem to realize that everyone around them is making fun of them. You look over and just laugh and make comments like: "I'm the Harley man. I'm a total zero. Look at me!"

There are many Harley riders out there who limit the obvious noise creation. Too bad the bad apples are what causes such anger and destroy the peace and relative tranquility of people around them. This is how new laws are placed on the books.

Default Woops, was I off topic!

I have asked my state reps repeatedly to try to enforce loud pipe laws. State inspection laws specifically say to reject straight pipes:
"6.1.11 Reject vehicle if the vehicle is equipped with drag or straight pipes." Course - most dealers ignore this.

The question ultimately boils down to where do your rights to do something start and stop when they interfere with my rights? One person wants quiet, and the other wants to wake the neighborhood. I don't know, but it sure is annoying to hear the bike - whatever kind - at the stop sign 1 mile away as it takes off and comes past my house. ALL conversation stops at times due to the loudness.

Now that I got everyone's Irish up, I see I was off topic. Sorry.

I forgot to mention that I'm from New jersey, so all my comments are moot.

Boy I'm glad Inspection laws only apply to vehicles REGISTERED in that State.

When I'm back in Maine, I'm going to park in front of Dunkin Donuts then stroll down the street playing my violin. Stop at the store and go to the second floor and spit out the window, then I'll buy a mercury thermometer. Head to the cemetary and feed the deer, then I'll leave a sign there for my sale on Clown Shoes. On my way back to New Jersey, I may even step out a plane in flight.

On a more realistic note, lighten up people. You really think loud bikes are a worry?

In the past couple of years, I've lost 9 neighbors to homicides. You'll let someone on a computer tweek you and you'll plan revenge. Jeeez..........................

Actually this house was in this family long before I-95 was even a thought. There has been a home here for over 200 years and this family bought the land well over 70 years ago ....so no you're wrong you see!

There may be hope. We took a ride over to North Conway via Route 2 in Bethel today. While we did hear a number of LOUD bikes, though the majority of them were not loud.. People were actually flipping off obnoxious bikes at the lights when the reved their loud exhausts to try to impress people . It was nice to see public reaction to these fools.

Like I said, I don't care tools no more

I ride American made bikes because they don't rattle and they don't break down.

Just think, kids with the tripped out bass stereo systems in their cars are louder as well.

Forest, how did I know you would write back. The people who have to ask why just don't get it. I love seeing the individuality of the bikes and the noise does not bother me. Love seeing what people are coming up with. I can always tell when my boyfriend is coming home. His bike is loud but not to bad. He has a Victory Vegas. No straight pipes, though I know he would love to have them. I own horses and I like my horses to be shiney, pretty with some get up and go. Need for speed whether bike or horse!

What is the "hottest" bike these days? I have a 1990 Harley Sportster and I'm thinking of making a trade. Any suggestions?
