Remember when.......
Being a teen in Maine was different then the other states.. besides each state is always raised and brought up in different ways.
Here's some ideas on describing something about you.
What kind of teen where you?
Who was your idol?
What was your favorite group?
Heart breaker or always heart broken?
What kind of clothes were in when you were a teen?
How old were you when you had your first "steady"?
You don't have to answer them all. I was just thinking about what we were posting about teens on Mayberry/ Eastport and then of course us talking about Maineah's bday... made me start thinking about about being a teen ~ and growin up here in Maine. (Share if you didn't grow up in Maine~Pleaseeeee)
I was born 1970, and I remember buying 45 records and then an 8 track of the Eagels.. but I loved the Steve Miller Band, Journey, Foreigner, loverboy and then moved into loving the 80's.
*I'll add more later...

I grew up in PA, right outside of Philly.
I'd say that I had two definite phases of teenagerhood (is that a word?), scholar in my early teens, slacker in my later teens, and a not-too-talented hockey jock (different than football jocks) the whole time.
My idol was Bobby Clarke when I was younger but became Frank Zappa as I got older, and my favorite band was Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention.
Definitely had my heart broken - I don't think I ever broke a heart.
The clothing of the day was polyester and platform shoes (I was a teen during the disco years), although I was more of a torn jeans and tee-shirt kind of guy. The torn jeans weren't a fashion statement - just a wear and tear deal.
My first "steady" was probably in about the 10th grade, although I never really had what you would call a girlfriend until my later teens.
After HS I worked at a record store (remember them) and became a serious music snob - I didn't judge people by the content of their character but by the content of their record collection Even though I don't feel the same way now, I still check out what kind of music people like when visiting.

I grew up outside of Philly, too...
Was a kinda shy teen....
My idol was Alice Cooper....
My favorite band was Alice Cooper.....
I was a heartbreaker....
I used to wear tight jeans, tight sweaters and platform shoes when I was a teen in the 70's....also had looooooong, straight hair that reached my butt.....(SO big in the 70's).
I was 16 when I had my first real steady....
Yup, even though I'm a LOT older now, I *still* wouldn't wanna relieve those turbulent teenage years for all the lobsters in Eastport....

Nice thread, Peachie! I was big into AC/DC, and then into the "hair bands" of the 80's and 90's (Whitesnake, Dokken, Guns n' Roses, etc.) As for clothes, my friends and I wore a lot of ripped jeans and we had huge hair (Aqua-Net rules!), which was always frosted. Ahhh, the memories. Sure makes me feel old!

What kind of teen where you?
Who was your idol? Didn't have one
What was your favorite group? Aerosmith
Heart breaker or always heart broken? Both
What kind of clothes were in when you were a teen? Jeans, turtlenecks with a sweater tied over your shoulders. Loved my waist length leather jacket. Tall boots with your jeans tucked in.
How old were you when you had your first "steady"? 15-18.
I have a house of 15-18 year olds right now. They're in shorts and tshirts.

Yesss.. everyone. Your' taking me back.
My favorite band was Def Leppard if I had to pick one.
I guess I loved them the most since I went through two "tapes" of them of the same album.
I wore tight faded- shredded jeans High top sneakers & T-shirts fish next ties, big earrings, buckle boots.
Had big hair that was frosted as well.
( Yes Aqua Net was the Spray for Do's... speakin' of do's remember "Dippy Do hair stuff. )hehe
Okay, so I hung out with the bad boys and I was friends with EVERYONE in school.
I never broke a heart that I know of.
I don't think anyone liked me. lol * was everyones "peachie friend sister*
Most of the guys I hung out with were my friends thou. I went steady with a guy that dropped out of school to drive skidder with his dad. I was in love he had a dreamy black old chevy truck and we would drive the roads until the gas tank read E.
Yeah... I thought it was it. ~ you know the rest.
So after heart ache and still heart ache.. I met my first husband my junior year in high school.
Lets see... My girl friends were great... I had "sleep over's every weekend at my house.
( I believe this was because I was central located in a great area and had a huge 5 bedroom house.)
I can't remember a weekend that went by that I didn't have friends over. ( just that weekend I was grounded for the summer.)
Our big thing here was to go to "pit parties, and to the highschool dance .(* Remember the Video Dances?*)
I always loved to dance and I would dance with this crazy guy every time to "Ball Room Blitz". That was fun.
Sadly, school was never important ... friends and weekends were.
I don't think I had a real idol.
I loved MTV of course and (remember this for us mainie's) "All HIt Video's on Channel 7 late at night.
My first steady broke heart so bad that being a TEEN would never be in my wishes at all. But I like to visit being 7 or 8 with the rolling of the "big wheels and playing in the trees with my best friend in the world Dana. lol

I loved whitesnake, and of course I loved all those small bands that didn't make it past the one song point too. I collected music. Every week with my allowance I buy a new music tape, body spray, and hair spray. lol

Long haired hippie, radical, anti establishment type.(basic idiot)
Who was your idol?
Duane Allman of The Allman Brothers Band
What was your favorite group?
See Above
Heart breaker or always heart broken?
Never at a loss for companionship.
What kind of clothes were in when you were a teen?
Frayed bell bottom jeans, beat up oxford shirts.
How old were you when you had your first "steady"?
I was 18 when my 17 y/o girlfriend moved into my Mother's house with me!
We had a Southern Rock band when I was getting out of high school. We raced dirtbikes, drank a lot of beer, did various drugs, chased girls, drove Camaros, partied heavily, went to concerts, built massive stereo systems, worked odd jobs, and basically screwed around for several years. I finally had had enough when I was 24 and settled down, went back to school, found a nice woman and got married when I was 25. I don't regret any of it as it sure was fun!
