sanford on the decline?
The town of sanford has been on the decline for a few years. Sanford police have on many occasions caught people with amounts of marijauna, kept the weed and let the people go. town administrators mis-using public founds can't even find the motivation to fix the pot holes, and man hole covers properly. councilors voted themselves a raise but can't even use the money that was available to make proper repairs. hospital doctors have been caught lying, and some patients have become sicker by the doctor's blunders in medical practice. hospital administrator was asked to investigate a blunder, but she denied it happend. the department of human services have used lies and adoption agendas to take children from their parents. in the court house in springvale, the judges have been corrupt by agreeing with dhs without using the rules of evidence. sanford high school principals and teachers are disrespecting and abusing students, using school councilors and doctors to prescribe drugs to numb the students without even consulting or talking with the students to even assess what the problem is. many people have been moving out of town. new business prospects that come to sanford for possible ventures can't even drive down into the mills because of the trash and the condition of the drive.

Thank you for this update. It could be argued that Sanford has never really been on the "incline" either. What do you see in the future for Sanford?

we might do well to going back to town voting instead of letting a few council members making decisions for us. to many mistakes are being made. they are either unaware or unconcerned. its just good logic to want to take care of the nest.

get a grip!
sometimes truth finds its way to the top of the pile. take officer abbot for instance. he is sueing the city cause he got caught with his hand in to many 'cookie jars'!......the local newspapers have printed what he did wrong and his little temper tantrum of sueing. [deleted content - see note regarding ad hominem attack against named individuals below] but to be fair, abbot is not alone. their are a few other officers that i could name[maybe i will later] [please do not name anyone or make accusations against specific individuals that are not a matter of public record]. that disreguard the laws and are abusive to people most of the time. they can't really be called peace officers. maybe they were just born in the wrong century. they would fit right in with the Earps and James.

abbot & costello
officer abbot is going through with his plan to sue the city. good grief. i probably will go talk to the city lawyers.
The remainder of this post was deleted. While I think a frank discussion of the pros and cons of any area is a legitimate subject of discussion, we must be really careful when we start naming private individuals - especially in a public forum such as this. If it's published in a newspaper and is a factual matter (such as "officer abbott is suing the city"), that's one thing. But it's another to start accusing him of illegal behavior if he has not been convicted. k?

My dad is the new chief of police in sanford
My family and I have recently driven though Sanford in order to find a new home to move into. While its not the nicest looking place it seems like a decent place to live. I come from a city in maryland called Bowie and if you people in sanford think your town is becoming run down and crime ridden, then I would like you to come and visit where I live. Washington DC is only a few miles away and the number of murders per capita is the third highest in the entire country. Drug trafficing is at an all time high and the number of stupid kids leaving high school is enormous. My dad will be sworn in as the new chief of police in sanford on July 18 and hopefully he'll be able to turn some of the troubles you guys as a town are experiencing around.

Nice post Abermatt....
It's important to note that every town experiences difficulties at times. It's also important to note that sometimes things are blown out of proportion. I'm sure that your Dad is a committed individual with a goal to make a difference in Sanford, and he'll be welcomed because of it.

I was a police officer in wash dc back in the early 90's and also worked here in Maine for several years. PG county MD was going bad then too. I don't care where you go in america most cities have areas that if they were its own city the crime rate would be staggering. I agree though no where in Maine is there the violent crime like there is elsewhere. But Maine being poor has a lot of petty crime and domestic issues. And I find that the nicer areas of Cities like DC, Boston, ect actually have less crime all together then Urban Maine. As far as police corruption I find that 99.9% of stories about bad cops are false. I've seen how things get so distorted and how people just make things up. When NJ state police put camera's in their cars they found that not 98% not 99% but all of the petty civilian complaints that were made against their officers from traffic stops were false. As far as taking Marijuana and letting the person go.....It's a civil offense depending on amount, and I too have taken it off of kids and then threw it away. happens all the time!! We are drug testes, polygraphed, given a 6 hour physiological ect. There will always be a couple of bad apples, usually the officers that over time succumb to the stresses of the job, or on occassions good cops having a bad day. but the majority, and this includes Sanford police, tend to be vey level headed individuals.

Sanford would probably be a completely diferent place now if the people hadn't voted the casino down about 6 years ago.
