I thought you may find these interesting.....first up, rush hour traffic this morning in the suburb areas.....not even into Houston yet and going 5 mph! Then the lighter pic is on the outskirt of town - traffic was actually flowing pretty well. I got up to 40mph!

And this is our town when it rains for more than an hour. I swear someone should have checked elevation levels before building this town!! These pics are from one end of town to the other. A couple include 3:00 afternoon traffic through town. Remember our little place here is only pop. 8500, and we still have this much traffic every day - today was light due to the rain.

The last pic is in our neighborhood, about 3 blocks over.

Looks like Houston streets are the same as the ones here. No slope at all, just flat, flat, flat. And not much place for the water to run off.

Yep, looks very familiar! Houston has had episodes in recent years of freeway flooding that goes over the cartops in the underpass areas. When you're sitting in stalled traffic, and the water keeps rising........I saw pics a few years ago of people sitting on the roof tops of their cars waiting to be rescued.

El, nobody checked the elevation levels here either nor knew anything about road construction and drainage issues. I swear those pics could have been taken right here. When I first came down here I couldn't understand why there were so many car accidents during a rain storm. I kept thinking "Hell, I'd hate to see you morons drive in snow". Now I realize, more traffic equals more road residue (oil buildup) and hydroplaning - and on I95 you have to go 85 mph just to keep up with bumper to bumper traffic!

Molly, I loved your comment about El not worrying about the bear until he walks down the aisle with it. That was perfect.
