I'm taking a NaNoWriMo break and so glad to see talk of Christmas! Thanksgiving is usually very busy for me but this year I have little to do. Without having to plan out a meal (which doesn't change from year to year but I still feel the need to plan ) I'm ready to get busy with Christmas. I have wreath orders to fill for shipment the week of Thanksgiving. I'd just as soon ship them now, put my own up and start decorating inside. Tree day is a huge thing for us. I hope we have at least a little snow before then. It doesn't fully feel like Christmas without snow.
I wasn't really planning to hunt today. It's cozy in the house with a small fire burning, the coffee's good and writing is going well. Then Steve came home with new rain pants for me so I "don't get soaked when we go out later." He's on his way home right now so a hunting we will go. The house will still be cozy, the coffee still good and I'll pick up writing later on. Supper's ready - seafood chowder.

Is there some place on your land that there might be a tree that needs thinning out when we come up to do wreaths?? I would like -- after all the years in the south, where I couldn't really do it -- to cut and have a "real" tree again.
I'll trade you a small " Core Sound Tree" if I can...
I had been using one of their first production models (from when they were making the non-pre-lit versions) for my indoor tree for years. We will still have quite a display of them for the yard! I am excited to see them in the snow... it never snowed in Dec. when I was in NC. We have several of each size!

In Belfast at their big celebration that we saw pics of last year, they have "Father Christmas" rather than "Santa Clause". He's a much different person, indeed!

That's all I do on the Cape El. Each window on the first floor gets a simple wreath with a big red bow. Then a little display on the bench next to the front door which I generally add lights to. I guess that's why I'm so agog when I see what people feel they have to go through in other places of the country to get that 'special feeling' we have automatically. It can't ever be convincingly duplicated. New Englad is unique during the months of Sept. through Dec. imo.

The lights at the Shrine in Attleboro are amazing! There is another LaSalette shrine up in Enfield NH.....I dont know if they do the lights as well.

None of our trees are good enough?
150 acres of forest here!
BTW, anyone who wants a tree, is welcome to come by and cut one down.
I run ads in 'Freecycle' most every week, offering that anyone can come here and cut down trees for their firewood.
