Ayup, down here on the Cape too. I don't think in their 23 years of living across the street I've ever seen the hubby in a pair of pants!!!!

What is a Sacrilege is that cut-out cardboard or plywood snow in that photo. That's just wrong on so many levels.

I have seen the shorts in January and February as well. Usually College kids trying to be tough or get a reaction out of the locals. Saw one smoking a butt out in front of Mardens in Presque Isle last year when the temp was in the -10 to -15 range. Shivering like a madman in his t-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops, trying to look like he wasn't about ready to keel over. I stopped, looked at him, and before I could stop myself; told him he went past looking cool and made it all the way to the frozen dip-stick stage. I thought his buddies were going to come unwrapped laughing.

Oh, you're telling me! It's sad, huh? Wanna come get us now or next week?

Brad and I couldn't quit commenting on all the "crap" we saw yesterday that was so dissapointing. The holiday season used to be so special to us. Now, it's beginning to feel like another obligation in our lives. The greed driven atmosphere we live in is just disgusting.

At one point, he said, "Can't we just go this month?" But I'm already stressing over the fact that our intended moving date is only 12 weeks away and so many things remain up in the air! I know there is no way we can have the house taken care of and be ready to move everything any sooner than that.

Like we needed another reason to escape!!!

Default Has anybody seen this?

Stolen bells put boaters at risk
The U.S. Coast Guard reports that the bells from seven navigational buoys have been stolen off the Maine coast. The discovery, made during its annual inspection of the navigational aids, prompted the Coast Guard to issue an alert about the thefts — with the suspicion being that the bells might have been stolen for sale to nautical novelty shops and scrap metal yards.
Whatever the reason —i.e., senseless vandalism or greedy thievery — these thefts put boaters at risk. The audible bell buoys are critical to the safe navigation of vessels ranging from large tanker ships to fishing and recreational craft.
Replacement of the missing bells can cost taxpayers $400 to $1,000 apiece.
Scrapyards and nautical novelty shops should be on the lookout for these stolen bells, which are clearly marked with the letters "USCG" for U.S. Coast Guard. The Coast Guard also asks mariners, harbormasters and the boating public to report any navigational aid discrepancies or suspicious activity to the nearest Coast Guard station or to the Maritime Safety information hotline at 1-800-682-1796.
The bell thieves, if caught and convicted, deserve the maximum penalty for their actions against the public good. It's a federal crime to steal these bells, carrying a penalty of up to one year in prison, fines of $2,500 and liability for the cost of replacement or repair.

Losers. I hope they get caught. How can they not realize how dangerous what they did is for safe navigation?

Got talking to two guys today at the dump who work there... they were helping me unload about 1k magazines I'd been saving since about 1990. NOT kidding!!! lol I thought I was going to have a stroke by the time I'd gotten them loaded... anywhoooo... the one guy pulling most of them out of the bed of my pick-up said he grew up in Bridgewater, but his wife is from Millbridge. They're just like me, they dislike it here now and they've just lost out on two properties in downeast Maine. One in Millbridge and one in Sullivan.

I told him about C-D and the Maine forum and he said he and his wife will look for it. I hope they join us. Nice guy.

He said he's spoken to a lot of people (from being at the dump lol), and many of them that have been here for years and years like me are selling out and moving up to your countryside. We just can't stand the way we've been taken over.

I went out this afternoon but didn't see anything but a red squirrel. I know there's plenty of time left and that I'm new at this but I'm starting to wonder if I need to hunt at Hannaford this winter. How about you Maineah? Anything?
