Having been awake for only an hour, and having read Bears on Wheels 2x, plus having the same book read to me 3 times (did you know the words are all Crash Boom! when read by a 2yo?) I bet in 2 years I will be equally broken hearted and doing a dance of freedom. He sleeps with a stack of books every night.

When my eldest son was little I would read him a poem that he and I both loved just before he went to sleep:

"Now touch the air softly;
Step gently one two;
I'll love you till roses are robins egg blue.
I'll love you till gravel is eaten for bread;
And lemons are orange and lavenders red......"

Later he made me a birthday present by taking a nail and scratching that poem on a piece of plywood he found in the barn....later I used the poem in my toast at his wedding reception.

The birthday gift plaque hangs right above where I am sitting now...and it still brings a lump in my throat and hot eyes, when I read it.
