Welcome home txmom! Good for you and your family. Isn't it strange how life has so many twists and turns?

Would you believe it made it up to 94 degrees here today? I'm guessing TxMom is feeling the same misery in FL.

Time to head 'em up and move 'em out!!! Maine or bust!!!!!!!!!

txmom and I had a fabulous phone conversation this afternoon. She's just the nicest person and a fabulous Mom.

Temps here in FL are cooling down a little. Our high today was only 84*. She's a few hours north of me so it might have been just a bit cooler there. She's anxious to get home, good for her!

There ain't no fleas on me
There ain't no fleas on me
There may be a flea on you all, see,
But there ain't no fleas on me!

Just did the (hopefully) last of the season flea bath/dip for the critters. We have 8 soggy kitties drying in the master bath (Adams flea dip, easier than wash and rinse, just dip and wring) with our portable propane heater helping the job, and the dog is unhappily drying in the kitchen (poor baby... no CARPET to lie on) and I have rinsed me thoroughly (no way to wash a St. Bernard in a trailer tub without climbing in WITH her to wash the off side) after my incidental flea bath as well.

Now, off to run errands. Post office, bank, gas the car for my trip to Maine Writers place tomorrow...

I missed a call while I was picking apples. It was Taylor, calling to say she's in the basement of the Catholic church thanks to a bomb scare at the high school. Maybe she won't have to take that Spanish test today. That would make her day! Hey Molly, if they change the came to your school (we're playing your school today) I'll call you!

I hope the Spanish test is delayed. Did the bomb scare upset her?

Yes!! call me!!

We had a scare at the end of spring semester.... I did hear the sirens, so I knew something was up! The good thing is the sweep goes pretty quickly, and they usually catch the "bomber" before the sweep is even over!

I should have mentioned in the reply to Elcarim about the adjustments that we don't look all the doors at school and don't have metal detectors up here..... nor is there bulletproof glass or locked access to the kids. One of my friends who moved away and has been away for a long time said that she wouldn't feel safe with her kids in a school that didn't have all that protection. I wouldn't feel safe if my kids *needed* all that protection!

Not much rattles Taylor. The school is on lock down for the weekend and she's in Steve's office. I asked if she wanted me to pick her up to go to Calais with me. "Yes please. I've already gone through all the crayons and paper." That's a reference to her little girl days when crayons and paper in Daddy's office would have kept her busy for hours. She's going to a 12:30 pm meeting with Steve. That'll keep her busy til I get there. She's a little annoyed that her coat, back pack, sneakers and everything else are in the school.

Molly, no game tonight. It was Ellsworth today, Calais Monday. I need a bigger calendar to keep up with her.
