When we called for an ambulance from our home in Eastport, they arrived in only a very few minutes.

Oh, that's good to know! Yes, Fire/EMS are usually housed together, and in many places now, they operate as one entity. Down here, they're all gradually getting to requiring dual certification as firefighter/emt before you can work either. Fortunately, DH is already dual certified and registered with the National Registry, so all his certs are in good shape to work anywhere he wants.

I just made a great Ebay purchase! I caught a vintage glass bottle with the pretty square lid.....1/4 full of Coco Chanel EDP (MY fragrance) for $12.99. I usually pay $89 for a new bottle. How cool is that??
I'm supposed to be saving money, DH reminds me.......

It's NOT FAIR!
My second oldest daughter posted a picture of what she found outside her front door, in the Salt Lake City area of Utah this ( or possibly yesterday) morning.
Scroll down...about halfway through the "Cold Hard Facts" post. (This is the blog about her young husband's stroke/recovery...)
SNOW!
It's not fair...
But I totally covet their hats (and I have to get #5 daughter to requisition one for me from her inlaws in Peru.)

I love splitting logs on a nice Fall day. Not cutting as much I use a long handled, splitting maul instead of a machine. Swing overhand/overhead, could go all day. Used to amuse my cabin mates when a group from our trail club would travel out to western Maryland or West Virgina. Would start with a whole log then split one of the split pieces, and then split that piece, etc. Would get down to twig size which would be fixed in a crack in the big splitting stump, and then would split the twig Got pretty good at making kindling Seems I got this "talent" from years of driving spikes on track at a trolley museum. Plus it's also good for impressing women

Absolutely! I used the hydraulic splitter and Steve used the stump and ax. He splits faster by muscle than I can with a machine. I was impressed!
